On December 3rd and 4th, The 2022 Wuhan Forum of Distinguished Lecture Series-International Conference on Animal Nutrition and Gut health, sponsored by Wuhan Polytechnic University, was held in Wuhan. More than 20 well-known scientists from China, the United States, Canada, France, Italy, South Korea, etc., as well as graduate representatives from 13 agricultural universities and research units across the country, have conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the theme of " Animal Nutrition and Intestinal Health " with the concept of "ecology, health, innovation and sharing", in the way of combining online and offline,  sharing the latest research progress and achievements,  and looking for new solutions for " antibiotic-free " healthy animal breeding.

Defa Lee , academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, pointed out in his speech that in recent years, under the background of the continuous existence of the COVID-19 epidemic and Infection with African swine fever virus, human beings have paid great attention on food safety and biosecurity. The development of green, accurate, efficient and safe nutrition control technology is the key way to achieve healthy livestock and poultry breeding.

At the seminar, Doctor Guolong Zhang from Oklahoma State University focused on the induction effect of butyric acid on endogenous antimicrobial pep tides.

Professor Yongqing Hou said in his report ' piglet nutrition and intestinal health: from basic research to application practice ' that tributyrin has become a new feed additive that can replace feed antibiotics in animal feeding.

Hubei Horwath Biotechnology Co., LTD., as the first domestic manufacturer to introduce tributyrin into the field of animal nutrition, has deeply studied functional lipid products as long as 20 years. Tributyrin was officially approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs as a new feed additive in November 2022, which is also the first approved functional lipids feed additive in China.

Tributyrin,a kind of functional lipids,  is widely present in animal milk. Through  the study of molecular mechanism, etc.  , Horwath R&D team found that "tributyrin",in livestock and poultry production, can rapidly provide energy for intestinal mucosa, promote the development of the intestinal mucosa, repair damage, improve intestinal health, thereby reducing livestock and poultry diarrhea, improving animal performance and survival rate .     With the deepening researches, the usage scpe of "tributyrin" will be further expanded. The self-developed products of Horwath on animal gut health, such as medium and short chain fatty acid esters, natural plant active ingredients, coated essential oils and postbiotics, have also been well recognized by the industry market and exported to more than 30 countries and regions around the world.

Shijie Dong, president of Wuhan Polytechnic University, said that under the background of "prohibition" and "restriction" of antibiotics  in the countries around the world,  it has become an industry consensus to replace the usage of antibiotics through nutrition regulations of animal intestinal health . Functional lipids, natural plant active ingredients, probiotics, functional amino acids and other alternatives to feed antibiotics have entered the industry vision. In the future, we will work hard and make continuous efforts to the research and development of "green" feed additives and antibiotic-free breeding solutions.
